Hornsey Town Hall: Making History in Crouch End

We’re delighted to be working with Far East Consortium and Make Architects on the restoration and redevelopment of the iconic Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End.

Built in 1935, the building dates back almost 90 years, and remains one of the earliest examples of modernist architecture in Britain. Working to preserve this history and channel it into the 21st century, developers FEC are restoring the Town Hall to house a new arts centre, hotel and co-working space for Crouch End. The grounds are also set to welcome a new collection of apartments inspired by the Town Hall’s modernist architecture and art deco features.

In creating the Hornsey Town Hall brand, we wanted to celebrate the building’s extensive history while capturing its exciting future. We started by looking at the original architecture and interior design, and created a rich colour palette that reflected the Town Hall’s period interiors. The elegant logo alludes to the art deco signage present throughout the building.

These basic elements fed into the web design, which needed to capture the eclectic offering at Hornsey Town Hall, from the gigs and performances at the arts centre to the pop-up events and festivals that take place on Town Hall Square. We ensured the website told the story of Hornsey Town Hall past, present and future, with a timeline tracing its history, a detailed account of the restoration project and a look at all that’s to come.

It was important to communicate the building’s history and legacy, but we also needed the website to successfully drive apartment sales. With this in mind, we incorporated clear, compelling call-to-actions throughout the site, and built a sophisticated search tool, allowing customers to search for apartments according to their unique preferences.
